A labor of love, a punch of color, a family’s forever home. Upon completion, this multi phase project saw an out-of-date split level house purchased by a young professional couple become a modernized family home for four with an eclectic twist.
The ‘modern farmhouse’ interiors offer traditional fixtures and finishes with distinctive plot twists at every turn. The kitchen states classic white millwork, a large skirted ceramic sink and light wood tones, which is then highlighted by a dark slate floor set in a herringbone pattern. The main bathroom introduces a classic black and white feel with a pizzeria like penny tile floor and is countered by crisp Alder shelving and trim and a stark black soap niche, while the ensuite packs a punch with blue mosaic floors and chevron wallpaper. Existing oak floors were refinished and custom trim work was added to create a classic feel, juxtaposed with energetic wall colors.
Rustic beams took the place of walls, floors were re-framed to account for fixture relocations and a bathroom was added to increase basement functionality. Single pane windows were replaced and insulation was enhanced to upgrade a tired thermal envelope. Plumbing and electrical systems received a complete overhaul as safety and efficiency ruled.
A sewing room, home office and media room combine practicality and entertainment, making this the perfect place for a family that loves to entertain, hobby and relax.
